## endangered: 濒临灭绝的 ##

used of animals and plants which may soon disappear from the world because there are very few left alive

Our government is trying to protect the endangered wildlife by law.  
政府正设法用法律来保护濒临灭绝的野生动物。

Many endangered species have been saved by zoos which have been able to make them reproduce.  
很多濒临灭绝的物种被动物园救助，以此来实现繁衍。

## highlight: 突出，强调 ##

to emphasize something or make people notice something

This TV station is producing programs which would highlight the problems of unemployed.  
这家电视台正在制作一些强调失业问题的节目。

You should highlight your interesting experiences in Africa to attract her attention.  
你应该着重讲述一下你在非洲的有趣经历来吸引她的注意。

## light show：灯光秀 ##

Last time I went to London, I was lucky enough to watch the light show on Big Ben.

## in order to vs. so as to ##

in order to的意思是“为了”，表目的，常用于句首，句中；so as to多用于句中。  
in order to和so as to在句中表目的时，常可以转化为 in order that或so that引导的目的状语从句（adverbial clause of purpose）。

*  In order to survive, they were driven to extremes in the forest.
 *  He emigrated from Britain to Australia in order that he could find a better job more easily.
 *  We should work hard so as to pass the exam.
 *  He worked quite hard to midnight everyday so that he could make more money and his family could live a better life.
